Equipment Advices

In order to ensure their security and the good progress of the each race, each participant must have at their disposal the all the mandatory gear on the list, detailed below.

SUMMIT160, CLIFFS100

Basic kit:

• Running pack to carry mandatory gear throughout the race.

• Mobile/Cell phone (smartphone strongly recommended): the runner must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race:

o Mobile/Cell phone with international roaming that works in Thailand.

o Each runner should save the organization's safety phone numbers, do not mask/block your number and do not forget to start the race with the battery fully charged)

o Keep the phone on at all times, airplane mode is forbidden and could result in a penalty.

o For smartphones: LiveRun application installed and activated.

o An external battery is highly recommended

• Personal collapsible cup 15 cl/5oz minimum (bottles or flasks with lids are not accepted)

• Minimum water supply: 1 liter

• Two (2) working headlamps with spare cells/batteries for each headlamp. Recommendation of 200 lumens or more for the main torch light

• Survival blanket of 1.40m x 2m minimum / 55 inches x 80 inches

• Whistle

• Self-adhering elastic bandage for bandaging or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm / 40 inches x 2,5 inches)

• Food reserve. Recommendation of 800kcal (2 gels + 2 power bars)

• A windproof jacket with hood with durable water-repellent protection (DWR protection)

• Long-legged trousers or race leggings OR a combination of leggings and socks to cover the legs completely (Optional for CLIFFS 100)

• Cap, bandana or Buff®

• Additional warm second layer*: a warm second layer top with long sleeves (excluding cotton) weighing at least 180g (6,5 onces) OR the combination of a long-sleeved warm undergarment (first or second layer, excluding cotton) weighing at least 110g (4 onces) (*Optional for CLIFFS 100)

• Warm gloves (Optional for CLIFFS 100)

• Copy OR original ID card /passport

• First aid kits

• LED, reflective vest or belt, or reflective band with at least 2 inches length

• Reusable bowl and spoon/spork

Hot weather kit (may be required by the organization, depending on weather conditions)

• Sunglasses ***

• Saharan cap or any combination which completely covers the head and nape/back of the neck

• Sunscreen, recommendation: minimum sun protection factor (SPF) 50 

• Minimum water supply: 2 liters

Cold weather kit (may be required by the organization, depending on weather conditions)

• Protective eyewear ***

• 3rd warm layer (intermediary layer between the 2nd layer and the waterproof jacket)

• Recommendation: fleece or compressible down jacket

• Sturdy, closed-toe trail-running shoes (minimalist or ultralight shoes excluded)

*** it is possible to use the same glasses if they are suitable both for the sun and bad weather (such as glasses with photo-chromatic lenses) All clothing items must fit the runner - in terms of size - and they must not be altered in any way after leaving the factory. The mandatory gear must be carried in a running pack for the duration of the whole race.  The running pack is tagged during race-pack collection and must not be changed during the race.

Other recommended equipment (including but not limited to):

• Hat

• Water-proof gloves

• Waterproof over trousers

• Jacket with hood for bad weather in the mountains/course terrain. The jacket must be made of a waterproof* and breathable** membrane (e.g.. Outdry)

• Spare warm clothing, essential in case of cold and rainy weather or in case of injury

• Poles in the case of rain or snow for your safety on slippery ground

• Vaseline or anti-heat cream

• at least 500 baht cash (just in case...).

• GPS watch

• Knife or scissors for cutting elastic bandage

• Emergency sewing kit

If runners choose to take hiking poles with them, they must carry them for the entire duration of the race. It is forbidden to start without poles and get them during the course of the race. No poles are authorized in the spare bags. Any earphones MUST be removed when crossing any roads, as well as on approach to, and whist at, any checkpoints and when approaching and passing any Safety Team members.

SUMMIT160, CLIFFS100, PAGODA50

BASIC KIT

Materials

• Pack destined to transport mandatory gear throughout the race.
• Personal beaker 150 ml minimum (bottles or flasks with lids are not accepted)
• 2 torches in good working order with spare cells/batteries for each torch Recommendation: 200 lumens or more for the main torch
• Copy OR original passport/ID card
• Mask
• Alcohol Gel/Spray
• Reusable Bowl and Spork

Safety and security

• Mobile phone (smartphone strongly recommended): the runner must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race:
o mobile phone with international roaming allowing for its use in the country (load into its memory the organisation’s security numbers, don't mask your number and don't forget to leave with the battery fully charged)
o Keep the phone on, airplane mode is prohibited and could give rise to penalties.
o For smartphones: LiveRun application installed and activated.
o An external battery is highly recommended
• Whistle
• Self-adhesive elasticated bandage which can serve as a bandage or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm)
• Survival blanket of 1.40m x 2m minimum

Nutrition and hydration

• Supply of water of 1 litre minimum
• Food reserve Recommendation: 800kcal (2 gels + 2 energy bars each of 50-65g)

Clothing

TOP

• Jacket with hood which will withstand bad weather in the mountains and made with a waterproof* and breathable** membrane (eg. Outdry) (Wind Breaker Jacket allowed)
*minimum recommended 10,000 Schmerber
**RET recommended inferior to 13
o the jacket must, imperatively, be fitted with an integrated hood or one which is attached to the jacket by the original system designed for that purpose by the manufacturer.
o the seams must be sealed.
o the jacket must not have sections of fabric which are not waterproof, but air vents fitted by the manufacturer (under-arm, in the back), since they do not damage in any obvious way the impermeability, are accepted.
o It is the runner's responsibility to judge, with these criteria, if their jacket fits the regulations stated and so bad weather in the mountains, but, during a check, the judgment is made by the person in charge of the check or the steward.

BOTTOM

• Long-legged trousers or race leggings OR a combination of legging and socks which cover the legs completely. (Optional for Inthanon 5, and Inthanon 3)

KITS

The heatwave kit

• Cap or bandana or saharian cap or Buff®

The cold weather kit

• Additional warm second layer (Optional for Inthanon 5, and Inthanon 3) : a warm second layer top with long sleeves (cotton excluded) of a weight of a minimum of 180g (men's size medium (M) ) OR the combination of a warm long sleeved underwear (first or second layered cotton exclude) of a minimum weight of 110g (men's size medium (M) ) and a durable water repellant (DWR protection) windproof jacket*
Note (*) : the wind-proof jacket does not replace the obligatory waterproof jacket, and vice versa
• Warm gloves (Optional for Inthanon 5, and Inthanon 3)
All clothing must be the correct size for the competitor and without having been modified in any way after leaving the factory. You carry this equipment in a pack which must be tagged during race-bib distribution and is not interchangeable during the race.

Other recommended equipment (list non exhaustive)

• Hat
• Waterproof over trousers
• Spare warm clothing, indispensable in the case of cold or wet weather or in the case of injury.
• Poles in the case of rain for your security on slippery ground
• Vaseline or anti-heat cream
• A sum of a minimum of 500 Baht (for contingencies).
• GPS watch
• Knife or scissors for cutting elasticated bandage
• Emergency sewing kit...

If you choose to take poles, it is for the duration of the race. It is forbidden to start without poles and acquire them during the course of the race.
No poles are authorized in the drop bags.
The use of poles will be forbidden in certain zones, if any, along the route marked by specific signs, for the security or environmental reasons. Runners will be notified prior the race day, if any.

PAGODA50, TERRACE20, TRIBES10

Basic kit

• Running pack to carry mandatory gear throughout the race.

• Mobile/Cell phone (smartphone strongly recommended): the runner must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race:

o Mobile/cell phone with international roaming that works in Thailand

o Each runner should save the organization's safety numbers, don't mask/block your number and don't forget to leave with the battery fully charged)

• Survival blanket of 1.40m x 2m minimum  / 140 inches x 80 inches (Optional for TRIBE 10)

• Whistle (Optional for TRIBE 10)

• Self-adhering elastic bandage for bandaging or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm/ 40 inches x 2,5 inches) (Optional for TRIBE 10)

• Food reserve, recommendation: 800 kcal (2 gels + 2 energy bars) (Optional for TRIBE 10)

• A windproof jacket with hood with durable water-repellent protection (DWR protection) (Optional for TRIBE 10)

• Cap, bandana or Buff® (Optional for TRIBE 10)
